The Year of the Big Snow...and Cold

Snow is tricky to photograph.  It's very bright and the camera wants to shut down the lens (just like the iris in your eye).  But, we can't let it do that...we have to force it to stay open contrary to its natural inclination.

And even when you compensate for the brightness of the snow, it will reflect the color of the sky and any other thing near it and produce completely different looking photographs from minute to minute.  Very tricky, I say.
We end up with snow that's white, gray, pink, blue, yellow, peach or purple, depending upon the available light.

More Random Lovelies (Sept - Nov 2016)

                                                                        Chinook Pass, WA

Grapevines in the fall are simply amazing...they turn red, purple, yellow, orange and burgundy...oh, my.  When the sun shines through the leaves, it can take your breath away.

I love the Horse Heaven Hills for the unobstructed view of the sky.  Get up there and you can capture the clouds in all their gorgeousness and full sunsets (or sunrises) from one side of the sky to the other.

Manito Park and the Arboretum in
Spokane, WA.  Beautiful...so beautiful.
